-EXERCISE is key to weight loss. Do lots of cardio to burn fat and increase fitness. This can be running, fast walking, swimming, cycling, skating, loads of things. You cannot use the “I don’t like exercise excuse” as there are so many different things you can do! I go to the gym at the very least three times a week for an hour. I don’t always feel like it, but I still go and always feel really good afterwards. Not only does it burn calories, it will speed up your metabolism for HOURS after, meaning your body will burn cals quicker, meaning less is stored as fat.
-Don’t cut out your favourite junk foods completely. Chances are one day you will give in and have a massive binge. You should cut down, but allow yourself a treat at least once a week. It will be something to look forward to when you’re craving it!
-WATER. Fills you up, no calories, healthy! Drink a glass of water before each meal and during to fill you up quicker so you won’t be tempted to eat more.
-Don’t starve. Yes, you will lose weight quickly but you’ll be more likely to binge after a week or so, resulting in gaining the weight you just lost, which will result in you starving again and the cycle continues and you find it hard to make any real progress. Eating around 1000 calories/day with exercise, is enough to make you lose weight quite quickly and KEEP IT OFF.
-Set small goals and take each one at a time. My goal weight is 115lb, which seems IMPOSSIBLE and so far away from my current weight (135lb). However; my next mini goal weight is 130lb - 5lb away! It seems much more achievable and not as scary this way.
-You will undoubtedly get fed up and unmotivated. For this…Just keep going. It will pass!!!
-Find what works for YOU. Everyone is different. For example, I like to weigh myself every single morning to keep on track, but for some people this puts them off. You need to experiment to find something you can stick to and you’re HAPPY sticking to.
